Underground Mine Surveyor Position Description

Location: Tuvatu Project Site, Fiji

Reports to: Snr Mine Surveyor

Lion One Limited is a subsidiary of Lion One Metals Ltd. – a Canada based gold mining exploration and development company, which is focusing on developing its fully owned Tuvatu gold mine project in Fiji. The Tuvatu project, which is located approximately 17 km from Nadi international airport, is an underground gold mine with process plant and tailings storage facilities.

We are currently looking for a full-time underground surveyor to work at our Tuvatu project site in Fiji. The successful candidate will report to the Underground Senior Mine Engineer and be responsible for Surveying underground workings, Set-out designs and completing monthly reports reconciliation as-builts.  If you are looking for a dynamic work environment, environmentally and safety focused, competitive employment conditions, and an opportunity to grow, we invite you to blend your talent with us and help us to build a successful project.

The Mine Surveyor duties include:

• Pick up existing underground development and
• Construct underground As-builts accurately using Deswik mine software
• Setout underground mine designs and monitor
• Installation of laser guidance systems for development and provide mine operator instructions
• Mark-up of design drill holes and production drilling accurately
• Conduct open stope scanning using both UAV and Fixed methods
• Assist the Mine Engineer in inspecting and monitoring production stopes
• Produce reconciliation reports weekly and assist with short-term planning
• Assist with underground ventilation monitoring
• To carry out administrative work

Skills and Competencies:

• Previous underground surveying experience with 4 years’ experience
• Proficient use of the latest Leica surveying equipment (Captivate OS), systems, and reconciliation processes.
• Proficient use of Deswik mine software (desirable)
• Moderate computer literacy and business software skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and team participation skills
• Organizational ability to manage time effectively and complete jobs
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work processes
• Strong attention to detail
• A strong desire to learn and be part of a team of dedicated professionals
• Civil engineering will be an added advantage
• Good knowledge of Microsoft word and Excel

 Qualifications & Education:

• Degree qualification in Mine Surveying or equivalent (desirable)
• Deswik advanced survey training (desirable)
• Valid Manual Driver’s License
