Independent Study on Sugarcane and Juice Quality Decline

The Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited invites proposals from experienced and qualified sugar industry consultants or firms to undertake a comprehensive independent study on the decline in sugarcane and primary juice quality across its Lautoka, Rarawai, and Labasa mill regions.

The selected consultant will conduct a 15-year analysis of field and mill data, identify key causes of cane and juice quality decline, evaluate the impact on sugar recovery, and recommend practical, field-tested strategies to improve quality and reduce losses.

Scope includes:

• Data analysis of Brix, Pol, Purity, Fibre, and POCS trends

• Field visits and sample testing (facilitated by FSC)

• Review of current harvesting, transport, and farm practices

• Stakeholder consultations with growers, field and mill staff

• Delivery of a detailed technical and business case report with actionable recommendations

Eligibility Criteria:

• 10–15 years’ proven experience in sugarcane crop and factory operations

• Demonstrated success in similar studies

• Strong understanding of sugarcane quality metrics and mill processes

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
