Morris Hedstrom is one of the Fiji’s largest wholesale and retail organization with a chain of Supermarkets and Homemaker (variety) Stores. We are seeking to recruit a suitable qualified and experienced Administrative Accountant to be based at our Head Office in Suva.


Process administrative payables for offices, ensuring proper coding, authorization and allocation.
Maintain accessible and organized vendor files.
Prepare journal entries, and administer and reconcile petty cash
In processing payables, review expenditures charged to contracts and administrative budgets, ensuring that costs are checked against budgets and are in compliance with agreements, policies, and regulations as applicable
Respond to routine inquiries related to accounting and finances
Review financial reports received from field offices
Review Treasury function regarding wire transfers for routine vendor payments
Manage consultant payments – review agreements and modifications for completeness; process payments ·
Provide training to new staff on finance, accounting, and administrative systems
Review proposal budgets prior to submission to management for approval
Review travel advance requests, travel purchases for projects to ensure allow-ability
Assist with preparation for annual audits.
Oversee office machinery, liaison with vendors, training for staff, enter/delete/arrange new codes into machinery that is code-driven (e.g., photocopiers, phones, postage);
Monthly readings, calculation, and posting of usage into accounting system
Oversee office supplies: ordering, inventory;
Maintain office leases and amendments; review leasing changes; interact with landlord on annual operational rental escalations;
Monitor off-site storage and assist with periodic purges of stored files;
Other duties as assigned.


Demonstrated solid experience in all the above areas.
Experience in an international organization desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in the accounting/finance/administrative area
Excellent oral, written communications, and problem solving ability
Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel skills
Cross cultural sensitivity
Ability to train/mentor staff in accounting requirements and administrative operations;
Ability to be a team player in a busy environment, often with tight deadlines.
