  • The position will be based with the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services
  • Part-time for 12 months
  • Suva, Fiji

Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, Australia Awards, and governance in Fiji.  The Facility also supports the Australia Awards and education programs in Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability inclusion, climate change, emergency preparedness and response and civil society engagement, across sectoral programs.  In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

Australia’s support to Fiji’s Health Sector (referred to as the “Fiji Health Program” or FHP) works in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to:

  1. Reform public health services to provide a population-based approach for disease and the climate crisis.
  2. Increase access to quality, safe and patient focused clinical services; and
  3. Drive efficient & effective management of the health system.

FHP invests about AUD 5-6 million per year into strengthening health services through a range of projects. These cover the COVID-19 response and vaccine roll-out, mother and child health, non-communicable diseases, patient safety and quality care, rehabilitation services, supply chain reforms and digital and health information. The assistance is delivered through modalities including technical advice, procurement of services and goods, capacity building and training support, and grants to civil society organisations. Across all projects and areas of support, FHP seeks to identify ways to support the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to improve gender equality and disability and social inclusion in health services, making them more accessible and higher quality to those who need these services the most. FHP also provides support to prepare for and respond to natural disasters, particularly tropical cyclones, and public health threats as they arise.

The Position

The Development Partner Coordination Specialist will support MHMS to manage, align, and coordinate the various development partners that are supporting the Ministry in achieving its vision, mission, and strategic priorities.

This position will support the Executive Support Unit of MHMS to improve the overall coordination, appropriateness, and timely delivery of all external assistance to the health sector. This external assistance could be in the form of Government-to-Government bilateral funding, multilateral assistance (such as UN agencies and multilateral development banks), civil society and non-government organisations, technical institutions, and the private sector.

The position will have a solid emphasis on identifying the scope and value of MHMS development partner assistance, mapping these, ensuring transparency and accessibility of development partner (DP) support. These activities will facilitate MHMS’ leadership and direction of DP support and ensure DPs are aligned to the Ministry’s goals and strategic goals.

This role will ensure that the MHMS is fully aware of all donor assistance, the type of assistance, its monetary value, timeframe, and purpose. The specialist will work closely with the Fiji Facility Health Program (FHP) and will ensure that there is constructive engagement and relationships between development partners and the MHMS.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in development partner coordination and harmonization including experience in design, management, and implementation of programs, and/or coordination of multi-stakeholder/inter-agency/inter-group program processes.

They will demonstrate experience in gender equality, social inclusion, and disability at national and international level. The candidate will have experience in maintaining databases on required information for effective coordination including exceptional data study and research skills.

At Tetra Tech, health and safety play a pivotal role in our success. Tetra Tech’s employees work together to comply with all applicable health and safety practices and protocols, including health orders and regulations related to COVID-19 that are mandated by the Government of Fiji.
