Job Description & Skills/Qualifications Required

Morris Hedstrom is the oldest Supermarket Chain, serving Fiji since 1868. We are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individual for the following position to be based in our main office in Suva. Driver (G2 & G6)

Responsibilities:

• Operate company vehicles to transport goods, supplies, or personnel according to schedules and routes.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations.
• Verify that the correct items are loaded and delivered as per the delivery notes or purchase orders.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on the vehicle, including oil changes, tire rotations, and safety inspections.
• Report any vehicle issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team promptly.
• Ensure the vehicle is clean and well-maintained both inside and out.
• Complete and maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery receipts, mileage logs, and fuel consumption.
• Report any delivery discrepancies, damages, or issues encountered during transportation.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on vehicle usage and maintenance needs.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while driving.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements, such as licensing and vehicle insurance.
• Follow company procedures for handling and transporting goods.
• Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner when making deliveries.
• Address any customer concerns or issues related to deliveries effectively.
• Provide excellent service to enhance customer satisfaction and support company
• Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to optimize delivery routes and schedules.
• Assist with loading and unloading goods as needed.
• Support other departments with transportation needs and special projects. 

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in logistics or transportation is a plus. P
• Previous experience in a driving or logistics role is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; additional certifications (e.g., commercial driver’s license) may be required.
• Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy items and handle physical tasks.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with customers.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
• Ability to follow directions and adhere to delivery schedules.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
