SITE ENGINEER – PAVEMENT – Fiji Airports

The Site Engineer – Pavement is responsible for supporting the effective asset management, maintenance, and performance monitoring of airfield infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, aprons, pavement safety areas, airfield grading, stormwater drainage systems, airfield lighting (civil components), and civil components of navigational aids. The role ensures airfield pavements and associated infrastructure are maintained in accordance with aviation safety standards, regulatory requirements, and approved asset management plans. The role will support the implementation of maintenance programmes, conduct pavement condition assessments, supervise maintenance works, and ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with best industry practices. This position is based in Nadi and reports to the Senior Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pavement asset management through condition monitoring and maintenance planning
  • Conduct pavement condition index (PCI) surveys and monitor pavement deterioration
  • Supervise pavement maintenance and rehabilitation works, ensuring quality and compliance
  • Maintain and update pavement asset registers, site records, and technical reports
  • Review contractor performance and workmanship on airfield maintenance works
  • Assess risks and ensure strict compliance with airside safety, health, and environmental requirements
  • Coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to support safe and efficient delivery of works
  • Prepare site sketches, minor design changes, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD
  • Uphold and promote Fiji Airports’ values, professionalism, and organisational image at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering OR a diploma-level qualification in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in pavement engineering, pavement management, or infrastructure maintenance
  • Practical knowledge of flexible and rigid pavement systems and rehabilitation techniques
  • Experience in pavement condition assessment, data analysis, and technical reporting
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and construction documentation tools
  • Strong understanding of aviation safety and airside operational requirements
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
